The feeling you know too well
You know how it starts.
You step in because no one else will.
You pick up the pieces, fill in the gaps, push through, get it done.
At first, it feels empowering. Responsible. Necessary. And really good.
But somewhere along the way, the hat/s got heavy and it didn't feel so good anymore.
This is what we refer to as Superhero Syndrome. When high-performing entrepreneurs internalize the belief that they have to do everything themselves. Do it perfectly, every time, all the time.

What is over-functioning & what does it look like?
Over-functioning is a term used to describe a situation where a person takes on too much responsibility that is not theirs. But it doesn’t always look chaotic.
It can look 'normal'. It can look like answering emails before your morning coffee is brewed. It can look like offering to just "take care of it" because explaining it feels harder. It can look like planning your team's workflows while folding laundry.
It’s high-achieving. It's polished. And it’s quietly exhausting.
Why do we do this to ourselves?
Superhero Syndrome people are often a cocktail of: high standards, scarcity of support, distrust in others' follow-through, fear of failure, and deep dread of dropping the ball.
We keep doing it because it works.
Until it doesn’t.
The hardest part is that you’re good at it.
Which naturally makes it even harder to stop.

What is this doing to you?
When you’re constantly operating above capacity, it doesn’t just drain your energy.
It takes pieces from your clarity, patience, and creativity.
Resentment creeps in. No one gets it. Sleep doesn't fix this exhaustion.
Burnout shows up at your doorstep and takes a hit on your physical, emotional, and mental well-being.
And when you’re the one people count on, asking for help can feel like failure.
Even though deep down, you know it’s not.

Over-functioning to supported leadership
Letting go doesn’t mean lowering your standards.
It means you redefine what your role should really look like.
It’s the difference between micromanaging and leading.
Between being the one who does everything and choosing to spend your time on what matters.
When support is trustworthy and designed specifically for your level of responsibility, letting go doesn't feel like losing or giving up control.
It feels like finally getting the opportunity to breathe.
Start your ‘done’ list today.
You don’t need to hold it all.
Not when there’s another way to lead.
